Day #3- Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread cookies are a 'must-have' treat this holiday season. If you haven't made them yet, it's not too late! They are really simple and a great hit for whatever family gathering or christmas party you go to this year. These cookies are also super fun to decorate (my sister and I had loads of fun decorating these ones!) Well, I hope you enjoy eating and making these classic Christmas cookies!

Ingredients:
* 3 cups of all-purpose flour
*3/4 teaspoon baking soda
*1 tablespoon of ground ginger
*1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
*1 1/2 cups of butter
*1 cup of dark brown sugar
*1 large egg
*1/2 cup of molasses
*2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
*1 cup of powdered sugar (for icing)
*1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream (for icing)
*1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (for icing)

Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
2. In another bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, the egg, vanilla and molasses.
3. Gradually add in the flour mixture and stir until dough is firm and dough-like. Feel free to use your hands!
4. Enclose dough with plastic wrap and leave in fridge for at least 1 hour.
5. Once dough has been chilled, roll it out evenly among sprinkled four.
6. Use cookie cutters of any shape and size to cut the dough.
7. Place the shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 12 minutes at 350 degrees F.
8. Combine powdered sugar, vanilla and whipping cream into a small bowl, then apply icing into a parchment triangle with a metal tip of your choice.
You can also
put icing into a plastic bag and snip a corner off if you do not have parchment triangles.
9. Now decorate your cookies however you like! Remember to let the cookies cool before putting icing on them though.
